At the invitation of the Associação Portuguesa do Cão da Serra da Estrela, the co‑lead of the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme presented at the I International Congress of the Serra da Estrela Dog a lecture entitled "The Serra da Estrela Dog: Functional Aspects". This lecture presented the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme, its main results and the highly positive impacts, with particular emphasis on data relating to Serra da Estrela Dog specimens. The Congress, held on 30 April at Penhas da Saúde in Serra da Estrela, was attended by dog breeders, shepherds and other breed owners, as well as representatives of breed clubs abroad.
