How to help

The Iberian Wolf Recovery Center (CRLI) was created by Grupo Lobo in 1987 with the aim of providing a suitable captive environment for wolves that cannot live in the wild: animals that are victims of traps, illegal captivity, or from other parks and zoos.

CRLI occupies 18 hectares of land in a wooded and isolated valley. It is located in the parish of Gradil, in the municipality of Mafra, about 30 km north of Lisbon.

CRLI

The well‑being of wolves is a primary concern, therefore the activities carried out are based on a sanctuary philosophy, providing the animals with conditions similar to their natural habitat and reducing human disturbance. This center develops a scientific‑pedagogical program that enables scientific studies and educational activities that inform the public about the bio‑ecology and behavior of the wolf, the dangers it faces, and the importance of its conservation.

Observing wolves in a semi‑natural environment provides unique and ideal opportunities for developing environmental awareness campaigns related to the conservation of this predator and biodiversity in general.

Our Space

With good vegetation cover and heterogeneous topography, it provides the resident wolves with good shelter and refuge conditions.

Visit the CRLI

At the CRLI (Wolf Rehabilitation Centre), guided tours and specific programs are offered for diverse audiences. Getting to know the real wolf, with the resident animals acting as ambassadors for the species, is the starting point for this unique experience.

Sponsorship Program

The Sponsorship Program for wolves residing at the Iberian Wolf Recovery Center (CRLI) is an initiative of the Lobo Group, which aims to involve civil society in a conservation project for one of the most emblematic species of Portuguese fauna.

Volunteer Program

The CRLI (Iberian Wolf Recovery Center) has a Volunteer Program for  people over 18 years of age interested in nature conservation and the Iberian wolf in particular. The volunteer's work is extremely important in the development of the Center's tasks.

Birthday Parties

Want to have an original birthday party? How about celebrating your birthday with your friends alongside wolves!? By holding your birthday party at CRLI, you are also contributing to the conservation of the Iberian wolf, one of the most endangered species in our country!

Memories of the Wolves of CRLI

Since its opening, the CRLI has taken in 59 wolves, some rescued from illegal captivity, other parks or zoos, and some born at the Center. Sadly, many have already passed away, but their stories will always remain in our memory.
