The Lobo Group supports and promotes several scientific studies and applied conservation actions, notably:
- Monitoring of the wolf population (distribution, censuses and ecology) and evaluation of measures for habitat improvement and identification of dispersal patterns;
- Characterization and analysis of the genetic viability of the wolf population;
- A program to recover the use of livestock guardian dogs and their integration into herds, in order to reduce losses caused by predators;
- Studies of public attitudes towards the wolf and the role of the canid in traditional Portuguese culture;
- Environmental impact studies and monitoring.
The results of these studies are published in congresses, meetings, technical reports, and scientific and popular journals, contributing to a better understanding of the biology and ecology of this carnivore.
