How to help

Proposed by the Yves Rocher Foundation, the Terre de Femmes Prize aims to recognise enterprising women in the environmental field who have developed projects contributing to environmental sustainability. The Terre de Femmes Prize is organised in 15 countries, including Portugal, honouring eco‑citizen women in Europe. Biologist Silvia Ribeiro was awarded 2nd place in the Terre de Femmes Prize 2011, in well‑deserved recognition of her commitment and work in the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme, initiated in 1996 by Grupo Lobo. This Programme aims to promote the use of socially accepted and environmentally sustainable livestock protection methods that reduce damage caused by wolves to domestic animals and thereby increase the tolerance of rural communities towards this threatened predator.
