As has become customary, Grupo Lobo joined forces with the Clube do Cão de Castro Laboreiro in organising another walk in the Serra do Alvão, dedicated to observing Cão de Castro Laboreiro livestock guardian dogs. This walk, which took place on 17 April, was organised by the company Natuga, and allowed participants to engage with rural life, particularly the daily work of shepherds in managing and protecting Bravia goats that make up most of the region's flocks, as well as the use of livestock guardian dogs, with emphasis on the support provided by Grupo Lobo through its Livestock Guardian Dog Programme. It was an opportunity to better explore one of the most beautiful protected areas in Portugal, the Alvão Natural Park, where nature and rurality combine to create landscapes of great beauty. During the visit to the Fojo do Lobo wolf trap in Samardã, an ancient monumental stone trap that reminds us of the relentless persecution the wolf once endured, there was also time to reflect on the importance of wolf conservation, as this threatened predator still survives in these mountain ranges.
