The results of the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme were presented at the International Congress on Wolf Management and Conservation in North America and Europe, held from 20 to 23 April at the Centro del Lobo Ibérico de Castilla y León, in Robledo de Sanabria (Spain). In addition to a poster on the main results of promoting the use of livestock guardian dogs, mainly of the Transmontano breed, in the Baixo Sabor region under the compensatory measures of the Baixo‑Sabor hydroelectric project (EDP), an oral communication was also presented on the overall results of the Programme. This communication also highlighted the results obtained in the LIFE MedWolf Project, with dogs placed mainly in more extensive production systems, less adapted to the presence of the wolf and the use of guardian dogs. Finally, the main difficulties encountered were identified and best practices indicated to facilitate the use of livestock guardian dogs in these production systems.
