The results of the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme were presented at the V Iberian Wolf Congress, held at the Castelo Branco School of Agriculture from 27 to 30 October, organised by Grupo Lobo in collaboration with various national and Spanish entities. A poster was presented with the main results of promoting the use of livestock guardian dogs, mainly of the Transmontano breed, in the Baixo Sabor region under measure MC8 of the Baixo‑Sabor hydroelectric project (EDP). An oral communication was also presented on the overall results of the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme, highlighting those obtained in the LIFE MedWolf Project in the Beira Interior region. In this region, production systems are more extensive and less adapted to the presence of the wolf, and the main difficulties encountered were identified along with proposed best practices to optimise the use of livestock guardian dogs in these conditions.
