How to help

The coexistence of livestock guardian dogs with tourists walking through livestock grazing areas is a growing issue, including in Portugal. In order to better understand this topic in Spain, Grupo Lobo technicians attended the conference "Flocks, Mastiffs and Compatible Uses: Working in Harmony". This conference, organised by WWF Spain within the LIFE EuroLargeCarnivores Project, took place in Guadalajara (Spain) on 13 November. Ways to improve this coexistence were discussed, such as measures to manage tourism that encroaches on the territory of dogs guarding flocks and herds, related legal issues, and the care needed in managing dogs and livestock, as well as greater awareness‑raising in society in general.
