Following an invitation, the results of the Livestock Guardian Dog Programme, developed over approximately 20 years, with emphasis on those obtained in the LIFE MedWolf Project, were presented at the International Workshop on Wolves in Coastal Cultural Landscapes: Livestock Damage Prevention and Other Proposals, held in Leck (Germany) from 21 to 23 September. This workshop, organised by the Educational Center for Nature, Environment and Rural Areas of Schleswig‑Holstein, brought together around 20 managers, researchers and NGO representatives from six European countries and also the USA. The aim was to share experiences and discuss appropriate solutions to mitigate expected conflicts in this coastal region, where the construction of protective dikes has formed a unique cultural landscape extending for several hundred kilometres, traditionally maintained by extensive grazing of very dispersed sheep and where tourism is a highly important activity.
