At the session presenting the final results of the LIFE MedWolf project, on 6 February, at the Sabugal Municipal Auditorium, the main results of the implementation of livestock guardian dogs in the project's intervention area were presented. All national project partners were present, along with approximately 60 guests, including livestock producers and breeders' associations, hunters' associations, local authorities, technicians and wardens from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests, representatives of the GNR's Nature and Environment Protection Service, and livestock guardian dog breeders. Particular emphasis was placed on evaluating the effectiveness of the dogs, as well as recommendations to overcome the main constraints identified in using livestock guardian dogs in extensive livestock management systems, which are more common in the region. These focused on technical, economic and sociocultural aspects, and aim to contribute to the implementation of good practices that facilitate the use of livestock guardian dogs and coexistence with the wolf.
