The brochure entitled The Livestock Guardian Dog: An Effective Helper, published as part of the LIFE COEX Project, aims to promote the correct use of livestock guardian dogs, clarifying various aspects considered relevant to the training and management of these dogs in order to obtain an efficient dog. Some of the topics covered include the behaviour of livestock guardian dogs, training and correction of behavioural problems, care in selecting and integrating puppies, livestock guardian dog breeds, and the number of dogs needed. The brochure also includes an opening section providing information on compensation for damage caused by wolves, with a list of contacts for the Protected Areas responsible for damage inspections, and a closing section on the use of electric fences. The brochure will be distributed to livestock farmers who begin using guardian dogs, as well as to those potentially interested in their use.
