A symposium was held in Segovia (Spain) on 28 and 29 February as part of the LIFE COEX Project, this time organised by the Fundación Oso Pardo, the Spanish partner in the project, in which Grupo Lobo also participates. This symposium, entitled Living with the Wolf: Damage Prevention in Southern Europe, focused on the use and effectiveness of damage prevention methods in different autonomous communities of Spain, and was an excellent forum for the presentation and discussion of ideas among researchers, technicians and livestock farmers. Grupo Lobo was invited to present the results of its project to promote the use of livestock guardian dogs, which it has been developing since 1996 with considerable success. This symposium contributed positively to taking stock of the current situation in Spain and to promoting the use of damage prevention methods as an effective way to reduce the conflict arising from the presence of the wolf.
