How to help

As part of European Green Week, various activities were held with the main theme of the use of livestock guardian dogs as an effective measure to reduce damage caused by wolves, thereby contributing to the effective conservation of this predator. One of the actions carried out at the Iberian Wolf Recovery Centre was the holding of information sessions aimed at visitors, Grupo Lobo members and resident wolf sponsors. The presentations aimed to inform about the LIFE COEX Project, the complexity of wolf conservation and the application of effective damage prevention methods, such as the use of quality, properly trained livestock guardian dogs. In some sessions, a Castro Laboreiro Dog was present — a female guardian dog integrated by Grupo Lobo into a goat flock in the Vila Pouca de Aguiar region. The sessions took place on 27 May and 8, 11 and 17 June, involving around 35 young people and 40 adults. European Green Week aims to raise awareness among European citizens about the importance of conserving the species and habitats found in Europe, and this year's theme was Biodiversity.
