The importance of promoting the Cão de Castro Laboreiro and the close collaboration maintained with the Clube do Cão de Castro Laboreiro were the reasons that motivated yet another participation by Grupo Lobo with specimens of this breed in the 1st Specialised Canine Exhibition of the Cão de Castro Laboreiro. This Exhibition, which took place simultaneously with the 2nd National Canine Exhibition of Arcos de Valdevez, was held on 3 October and was organised by the Clube do Cão de Castro Laboreiro with the support of the Regional Development Association of Alto Lima (ARDAL) and the Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. Due to health problems, unfortunately more common in livestock guardian dogs who, by virtue of their function, are subject to various risks, only 4 of the 6 registered specimens could participate, integrated by Grupo Lobo into goat and/or sheep flocks in the Serra do Alvão and Serra do Barroso. Fenisca (Bracara) came 3rd in the Puppy class with a Good classification, having refused to move as it was her debut at these events. Leão (CoimbroGLII) came 1st in the Intermediate class, obtaining Excellent classification and the C.A.C., having been considered the 2nd best male. Pitucha (IberiaGL) and Pomba (PadrelaGL) were classified 3rd and 4th respectively in the Open class, both obtaining Excellent. A travelling exhibition of Grupo Lobo was also on display, with panels focusing on the bio‑ecology of the Iberian wolf and conservation challenges, as well as the use of livestock guardian dogs and the care needed in their education and maintenance.
